⭐ Vulture City Ghost Town (Vulture Mine)
Step into 1863 at the site of Arizona’s richest gold strike. Henry Wickenburg discovered the Vulture Mine, and the boomtown that grew up around it still stands about 12 miles south of town. Explore the 1884 stone Assay Office, the blacksmith shop, the old mill and the miners’ quarters. Check the calendar for Wild West shows and evening flashlight ghost tours. The season runs October through early May.
Ride there with us: Our Vulture City Gold Rush Experience (4 hrs) and Gold Rush Expedition (8 hrs) pair desert UTV riding with an hour in town. [Book Vulture City Tours]
Desert Caballeros Western Museum
Western art, cowboy culture and Wickenburg history, right downtown. It’s a great stop on a hot afternoon or a rest day.
Historic Downtown Wickenburg & the Jail Tree
Walk the Western-style storefronts, boutiques and galleries, and see the famous Jail Tree. In Wickenburg’s early days, outlaws were chained to it because the town had no jail.
Hassayampa River Preserve
Shaded trails along one of the desert’s rare flowing rivers, with cottonwoods, willows and some of the best birding in Arizona.
